Apartment Reviews and Ratings
we have lived at this property for about 5 or 6 years. When we moved in, it was really very nice. Clean and well managed. About 3-4 months ago, the property was purchased by a new management company. Since the purchase, things have gone into a nosedive. The staff is rude, the grounds are absolutely filthy, (trash, dog poop) EVERYWHERE. The buildings will go uncleaned for weeks on end, and the "security" doors never work properly. There is a trash compactor toward the rear of the property. Instead of actually using it, or fixing it, if that's what it needs, they placed a huge, open dumpster in the middle of 4 or 5 parking spots. We all love to see everyone's trash overflowing onto the ground. Not to mention smell it. I wouldn't recommend this place to my enemies.
**Reasons to stay away.(The biggest reason) Incompetent staff: They put my name on two different water bills before the post office caught the mistake. When I got married, I submitted all of the documentation they asked for and still failed to update my name. Each time I would visit the office to pick up a package, ask a question, or whatever, there was somebody new working there. They won t lift a finger to help you; if you dare to ask them a question, they just say, I m new and then hope you ll stop bugging them. Nobody in this company believes in the simple courtesy of returning phone calls. I called with a question about my security deposit refund; they said that the corporate office handles that request which is fine. She didn t have the phone number and said she d call me back with it. Of course I had to call back (sadly, this was expected) and then the manager refused to give me the corporate number because it s no business of the residents. I got it off the BBB website, it is 614-901-2400 (in case any of you poor souls renting from them should need it). When I called the corporate office, the woman answering the phone seemed annoyed that I was interrupting her day. Last time I checked, she wouldn t have a paycheck if stupid people like me didn t sign their scam leases. Fee gouging: Read the excerpts from the lease above. We should have known better than to sign a lease with a big company like Preferred Living (Preferred Real Estate II LLC). When you are signing your lease, they will offer you the opportunity to provide them when your credit card information to, among other things, pay any charges or add-ons or incidentals not covered by direct billing or other funding sources. On the top, the form says, This form is REQUIRED to Guarantee your specified Unit and for the following. Dream on, Eastpointe Ridge... I can image giving them my credit card number and then I have to fight with them about charges accidently charged to me. I found that statement insulting, I have good credit because I have never been late with any kind of payment and I didn t intend to start with my rent. The building itself: While the maintenance staff is nice and they do their best, but they are not miracle workers. I had to put in 12 maintenance requests in the 14 months that I was there. A lot of these were repeat issues.Neighbors: They leave trash all over the place and don t pick up after their dogs. I love pets but I hate owners who are inconsiderate of their neighbors and discourage apartment complexes from allowing pets. The area: Cars got broken into, Eastpointe Ridge does offer garages but I believe their $60.00 per month. All of the leaches from places nearby mooch off of our less than impressive pool. Somebody stole the cord from the elliptical in their state of the art workout facility. Groups of rough looking kids hang around during the summer. I felt the need to carry mace with me.I hope that the $50.00 they confiscated from my security deposit made them happy. They may get that but I will never do business with them again. I hope I kept one person from making the mistake that I did. I wish I would have known this before I signed the lease.
